Aomori - October 17 to 20, 2020

Travelogue: Aomori

Travelogue: Aomori

From October 17 to 20, 2020, we went to Aomori. Same as the previous trip (Travelogue: Akita), we spent most of our time driving, or walking around the city. This is the first time for us to go to Aomori.

Day 1

On the day we arrived, after we checked in Daiwa Roynet Hotel Aomori, we walked to the Aomori Bay area, and enjoyed the views, taking pictures, having a sip of wine, and watching sunset (pictures below).

Day 2

On the second day, we drove to Osorezan (Mount Osore).

We saw discolored pebbles and water as well as a number of pinwheels at the temple and it is quite different from the image of most temples in Japan.

The page mentioned above (Osorezan) seems to have more information.

Driving along the bay and stopping by a couple of observation points, it took us over 3 hours from the Aomori station area.

As we were getting closer to Bodaiji temple, the sulfur smell got stronger. The car windows were all closed, but it didn’t work at all.

Day 3

Third day, we drove to Cape Tappi, again along the bay. We of course stopped by some places (3 pictures below). It was a beautiful weather to enjoy this.

At Cape Tappi, we spent more time on relaxing at the fishing port than the observation point.

On the way back, we found this little temple called Gikeiji. This place has a nice view.

Day 4

We checked out the hotel and strolled around the city. We bought a coffee at this little coffee shop, Cafe des Gitanes Imai Coffee and walked a little farther away from the station. There are more coffee shops like Cafe des Citanes Imai Coffee.

We were wondering if this is becoming a new coffee district in this area. As compared to the number of bars and restaurants we saw, more notable number of small coffee shops in the area marked with red line on the left map.

As in the same way as our other Shinkansen trip, we enjoyed wine and boxed lunch on a train back to Tokyo.
